Darker Days Radio Presents Gossip Ghouls #1

Sam and Michelle head up a brand new Darker Days Darkling series, looking at horror in all forms and media, gaming, and gaming as women. Chris joins them to ask questions and to hit record.

This episode looks at what made us weird, favourite horror films, and how we feel horror movies have evolved.

Expect bad language, content of an adult nature, and irreverent humour.

Darker Days Radio #58

Renegades of Irem

Mike, Chris, and Chigg finish up Darker Days Season 5 with the traditional Wraith episode. This time they look at factions of Wraith - primarily The Hierarchy, Renegades, and Heretics. Next Chris presents a Secret Frequency on structures and ruins that predate known human civilizations. Finally, the three dig into Cursed Necropolis: DC, the first setting book for Mummy: the Cursed.
Congratulations to the three winners of the most recent Darker Days contest. We'll be having the Classic World of Darkness themed segment in the future.

How to Make Planets part 2

Nothing much to show here but the planets painted up. All that is needed is a layer of varnish to seal them and perhaps some clouds on the Earth like planet.

To finish them off I will be ordering some flyer stands, which I intend to use for some asteroids in future.

How to Make Planets part 1

So as part of my growing immersion into the Fading Suns setting, I have some fleets for Noble Armada on their way. These are ships from when Mongoose Publishing held the license for the IP for space battles. And FASA is of course now holders of that license, and of course I am writing for Fading Suns. Can you see why I am doing this.

So first up you are going to want to have some form of globe or half moons. I got polystyrene globes from the craft store, ranging from 2 inches across, to about 8 inches across. So that means I have a moon, a Earth like planet, and a gas giant. Now you could just use old cds, card, foam board etc for flat planet representations, or mould a planet using papier mache and some sort of bowl perhaps.

The other things you will need are something to be a spatula, skewers to hold your planets, and a textured paint. I'm using what is called a structure paint, or a silica gel. I use this for the bases on my wargaming figures. The bonus is it is what paint as a base. Which will make for a great base coat.

Once the texture is all over you need to give the planets some more definition. The moons has been given a stippled effect. The Earth like planet has been smoothed, as if plastering a wall. And the gas giant has been textured using a brush to given the hint of layers of clouds.

On the Table

I know, I know, Chris stop showing us your minis, I hear.

Well in between doing SCIENCE (TM), reading new OPP books, and writing for Fading Suns (I am really eager to tell you about what I have written!), painting minis and wargaming is a way to do something hobby wise that doesn't rely on writing or reading.

On that note, first up, horror related, is the Kingdom Death mini I finished painting.

This was a test run of using some new paints by Scale 75. The flesh paint set has quite a range to give good pale tones, all the way to more olive, Middle Eastern, and Black skin tones. Now to wait for the boxed game of boutique horror!

Also I got in another game of Warmachine, this time using my untested Khador force, which had a hint of undead to it - Alexia Ciannor and her Risen!
